A ceremony honouring shortlisted projects took place at the LEAF awards in London on Friday, including our design for the new CHUM. Out of 184 submissions received from around the world, only 4 projects were selected in the category of Urban Design.
The 22-storey teaching hospital, spanning over 3 million square feet and encompassing two full city blocks, will play an important role in regenerating the neglected East-end of Montreal’s downtown core, reconnecting the city’s urban fabric and anchoring the future Quartier de la Santé.

LEAF is a UK-based organization that recognizes innovative architecture from around the world and celebrates excellence in design. This year’s jury was made up of representatives from Zaha Hadid Architects, SOM and NBBJ.

Other firms honored this year include David Chipperfield, Henning Larsen and Renzo Piano Building Workshop. The organization also awarded Santiago Calatrava with a Lifetime Achievement Award during the ceremony.
